Essex police detention officer sacked

A police detention officer has been    sacked for using excessive force on a suspect arrested in Essex. Catherine Renew, in her 40s, had worked for Essex Police for several years and was dismissed for gross misconduct.

Police Brutality

 

Police brutality is the wanton use of excessive force, usually physical, but potentially in the form of verbal attacks and psychological intimidation, by a police officer. Widespread police brutality exists in many countries, even those that prosecute it. It is one of several forms of police misconduct, which include: false arrest; intimidation; racial profiling; political repression; surveillance abuse.

Police Corruption

 

Police corruption is a specific form of police misconduct designed to obtain financial benefits, other personal gain, or career advancement for a police officer or officers in exchange for not pursuing, or selectively pursuing, an investigation or arrest. One common form of police corruption is soliciting or accepting bribes in exchange for not reporting crimes
